Samantha Hyvarinen – General Manager (she/her)

I have been part of the Lucina team since 2022 and currently serve as the General Manager for Lucina Birth Centre. I have a deep love for every aspect of the birthing and postpartum journey and find great joy in supporting families during this transformative time. It is an honour to work alongside the incredible midwives who serve Edmonton and the surrounding communities.

At Lucina Birth Centre, I oversee the day-to-day operations, collaborating closely with community midwives and our birth centre clients. My role is to ensure everyone has the support and resources they need so families can focus on their birth experience in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

Outside of my work at Lucina, I am also a passionate birth and postpartum doula. I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, and caring for my beloved chickens. I have a wonderful and supportive husband, and together we are raising three amazing children. As a family, we spend a lot of time at the hockey rink and share a deep love for the game.

I am currently completing my business degree to further develop my skills and continue contributing to the meaningful work I care so deeply about. I feel incredibly grateful to be part of a community dedicated to supporting families with compassion, respect, and exceptional care.

Kayla Woodman – Coordinator (she/her)

I have been part of the Lucina team since 2022. As the Coordinator for Lucina Birth Centre, I manage much of the behind-the-scenes administrative work that helps keep everything running smoothly.

I am currently pursuing my Nursing degree at MacEwan University and am pouring my heart and soul into my studies. Since 2015, I have been passionate about supporting expecting families as both a childbirth educator and birth doula. Helping families navigate the transition to parenthood is work that I truly love and find incredibly rewarding.

When I’m not working or studying, I am happiest spending time with my family and my dog. I also enjoy walking in the river valley, meeting friends for coffee, reading a good book, and taking a well-earned nap.

Bryanna (she/her) has been with Lucina Birth Centre since 2022 and is dedicated to keeping our birthing suites sparkling clean, inviting, and ready for each new family. Her attention to detail helps create a comfortable space for families during life’s most special moment.

Lola (she/her) joined our team in 2024 and brings a meticulous eye to her work, with thoughtful care every time she prepares the birthing suites. She takes pride in making sure our space space is fresh, cozy, and ready to welcome growing families.
