Registered Midwives in Alberta are provincially funded primary health providers who care for low-risk pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. We strive to practice informed choice by providing all the evidence-based information about tests and procedures of the childbearing year, and believe that with our guidance, it is you who has the right and responsibility to make all final decisions regarding your care. If you are under the care of a midwife you do not need to access routine prenatal care with a family doctor or obstetrician.
Our Philosophy
Once you are accepted as a client of Lucina Midwives, your care will be provided in one of our two clinic locations (14614 104 Ave OR 6425 112 Ave). We offer choice of birthplace to all our clients, which includes Lucina Birth Centre, home, or hospital. Any Registered Midwife can bring their patients to the Lucina Birth Centre for birthing (privately paid birthing location).

We offer group care at Lucina Midwives. Once a month (starting around 20 weeks gestation), those that are due in the same month come together for a group appointment. At these visits, the routine assessments are done and we have an opportunity to chat as a group about the issues of pregnancy at that gestational age. It is a great opportunity to ask questions, support other parents, and create lasting friendships
